YesPlay wants all of its users to have an enjoyable, safe, and responsible betting experience. We do this by following the guidelines provided by the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF). To ensure that all YesPlay customers gamble safely, we want to share the below information about responsible gambling so they know how to avoid any problems from excessive play.

1. What is a Gambling Addiction and What are the Signs?

According to the SARGF, a problem gambler is someone who gambles all the time despite all the negative things that come out of it. Problem gamblers don’t want to stop even if their families are negatively affected. The biggest downside of gambling is losing your money, which can lead to debt, loss of assets, bankruptcy, fraud, theft, and even losing your job. It can also result in stress and in some cases suicide.

Not sure whether you or someone you know is addicted to gambling? Then consider the warning signs listed below:

  • You constantly think about gambling;
  • You constantly think about gambling;
  • You gamble in order to forget about your problems;
  • You bet more and more in order to win back everything you’ve previously lost;
  • You chase after your losses;
  • You lie to people around you and hide your gambling activities;
  • Your gambling activities have had a negative effect on your family, work, studying, and/or social life;
  • You’ve tried to stop gambling before, but were unsuccessful;
  • You feel irritated when you try to reduce or stop gambling;
  • You’ve borrowed money so you can gamble; and/or
  • You’ve done something illegal in order to get money for gambling or to pay gambling debts.

2. National Responsible Gambling Programme

Gambling regulators acknowledge that gambling can have negative effects on our society. Because of this, they have established a couple of ways to deal with such problems. For example, the SARGF supervises the National Responsible Gambling Programme (“NRGP”) along with the gambling industry operators and government regulators.

The NRGP provides assistance to people with gambling problems. They offer free counseling, treatment, and education. To prevent potential gambling addicts from participating in any betting activities, NRGP makes it possible for people to opt out from gambling nationwide.

If you think that you might have a problem, YesPlay is here for you and encourages you to reach out to the National Responsible Gambling Foundation, whose toll-free helpline number is 0800 006 008. You can also send a message to their WhatsApp number 076 675 0710 and simply write “Help”. You can also check out responsiblegambling.org.za, where you’ll find all kinds of self-help information and counselling guides.

3. What is Self-exclusion and How to Request It?

If you feel that you are spending too much money, bet way more than you should, struggle to understand all the risks, or have a hard time recognizing your limits, you should consider the tips below that explain how you can keep yourself away from any gambling activity.

YesPlay supports the NRGP’s self-exclusion plan. The NRGP provides excluded gamblers and their families with counselling and support. Self-exclusion is a plan that allows players to exclude themselves from gambling activities. Almost anyone can apply for self-exclusion.

Please contact us if you no longer want to bet with YesPlay and wish to exclude yourself. If you’re excluded from gambling activities, it means you can no longer participate in them for a certain period of time.

You may, at any time, request temporary or permanent exclusion from YesPlay. Here are the available periods:

  • Temporary suspension: your account will be suspended for 1 to 3 months (you must specify which period you wish to exclude yourself from); or
  • Permanent self-exclusion: your account will be closed for 6 months.
  • If you request self-exclusion from our services, then keep in mind the following:
  • You won’t be able to deposit funds into your account;
  • You won’t be able to place any bets on any game or sporting event that YesPlay offers; and
  • You won’t receive any marketing notifications.

If you request permanent self-exclusion, any money left on your account will be returned to you, and your account will be suspended.

If you want to take a break from gambling, YesPlay encourages you to take part in NRGP’s counselling program.

In order to keep all of its players safe, YesPlay has implemented new safeguards in the registration and banking processes. This is intended to make it difficult for self-excluded customers to open more than one account.

In order for YesPlay to confirm your self-exclusion request and verify your identity, you will need to provide a photo of yourself holding your ID, as well as a copy of your ID.

If you want to self-exclude nationally, meaning that you want to be excluded from all betting in South Africa, you will have to fill out the following form and send the document to us or directly to the provincial gambling board.

4. Upliftment / Removal of the Self-exclusion Order

Keep in mind that if your temporary suspension or permanent self-exclusion expires, your account will not automatically be reactivated. In order to reactivate it, you will have to submit a written request, but it won’t be reactivated before the initial date specified in your request.

We will only consider your requests for lifting your temporary suspension or permanent self-exclusion order only when the original order has been in place for a certain period of time.

If you wish to reactivate an account that you’ve put on permanent self-exclusion, please note that this will only happen after following the SARGF process that is described on their website.

5. Protection of Minors

YesPlay does not allow anyone under the age of 18 to register and participate on its website. It is illegal for minors to gamble or have accounts on gambling websites. To comply with the law, YesPlay checks the age of all its customers when they sign up. YesPlay also asks parents and caretakers to monitor the use of their devices and keep their access details safe at all times.

We recommend that you install filtering software to keep your children safe from inappropriate content. You can find more information about this topic at:

6. Customer Activity History

You can see all your account activity online after logging into your account, including your account balance, your betting history, and other related transactions. You’ll get access to the details about your bets, your losses, your withdrawals, your deposits, and your winnings.
